Though not a lot is written about “Little Corporal,” the canine mascot for Firm A of the twenty second Ohio Infantry, this image of the pup was taken late within the warfare, so one can hope he made it residence. Initially designated because the thirteenth Missouri because of the truth that it organized in 1861 at Benton Barracks in Missouri, many of the officers and enlisted males had been from Ohio and Secretary of Battle Edwin Stanton later designated the unit the twenty second Ohio Infantry. The twenty second Ohio served within the Western Theater and took part within the Battles of Forts Henry and Donelson, Corinth and Vicksburg.
